March Sing-Along: Magnificat

Posted on March 8, 2021

Sunday, March 21 @ 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Come celebrate Bach’s 336th birthday by joining us to sing one of his best-known works — the Magnificat! From the glorious sounds of festive trumpets, timpani, and chorus as we sing the opening words of Mary’s song, “My soul magnifies the Lord,” to the quiet intimacy of flutes accompanying the alto soloist’s words “He fills the hungry with good things,” Bach portrays in this music a vivid and varied picture of trust and faithfulness.

You don’t need to know the music already or to be a great singer: just come for the sheer fun of singing—and for the “virtual delight” of making music with other people! Bring friends and family members, and see what it’s like to sing with lots of other singers who share a passion for great choral music. Our conductor Rodney Wynkoop will lead us; online copies of the music will be provided once you have registered.

All are welcome to participate with no cost to register. Instead, we hope you will consider making a donation to a community non-profit organization we will feature each month during our program.

The non-profit for March is Hayti Heritage Center.
