Support the Choral Society of Durham

Our donors make all the difference for CSD – past, present and future!

The Past:   We can’t resist another thank you.

Last year, without any ticket sales during the pandemic, donors made it possible for CSD to produce four full-length virtual concerts which included performing a world premiere, host seven  “good neighbor” sing-alongs, employ our staff, engage our volunteers, and maintain a meaningful singing community.  All donor-funded!

The Present: Our 2021-2022 season!

We have an exciting new season planned, with both live concerts and virtual outreach events. View season details here. Even with the return of ticket sales, CSD will rely as always on support from our donors to fund more than half of our annual operating fund. Your collective generous support enables us to keep ticket prices low and expand our community impact.

The Future:  An endowment – The Community Collaboration Fund.

We are thrilled to announce this new campaign which will help ensure CSD’s legacy as a pillar arts organization for our Durham community long into the future.  The proceeds from this endowment will fund specific projects each year to aid CSD’s community-building mission:

To enable more people, from diverse communities, to experience together the joy and
enrichment of high-quality choral music.

An anonymous lead donor has given us a great start with the expectation that we will raise an additional $75,000 to reach a fully funded goal for a $500,000 endowment.  Your donations will help ensure us a bright future!

Please consider supporting CSD with a gift to our 2021-22 operating fund, our Community Collaboration Fund — or both! Questions? Please contact our Development Chair.

You can donate online or mail your donation to:

Thank you for your support!

Sustaining Friend

All you good folks who keep CSD thriving with your generous contributions — and you equally good folks who’ve been meaning to help, but it keeps slipping your mind — may we offer a tip? Many of us singers who support The Stuff That Makes Life Good are quite smitten with the increasingly popular option of becoming a SUSTAINING DONOR.

What a boon for the procrastinators, the absent-minded, the solicitation-averse among us! No more fund drive-generated indecision and guilt! And, with just a modest monthly drip from your funds into ours, no more big bites out of your bank account. You won’t feel a thing . . . But we’ll have the assurance of your gift’s ongoing presence in our budget.

You will be recognized and receive benefits at the Friend level equal to the value of a full 12-months of your pledge (e.g. $21/month = $252/year and receives recognition and benefits at the CSD Patron level).
It’s a win-win situation if we ever heard one.  Simple. Effective. And, believe us, deeply appreciated! All you have to do is select “make this recurring” on the donation page.

Additional Ways to Give

Make a charitable IRA rollover gift
The IRA Charitable Rollover provision allows individuals who have reached 70 ½ to donate up to $100,000 to charitable organizations directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) without treating the distribution as taxable income. You may give the funds directly to a charity, like CSD. Such gifts count against the account holder’s required minimum distribution, helping the owner reduce the amount of the required distribution that is taxable..
